Program Note

We Miss You Down Here is a tiny homage to a magnificently wonderful human, friend, composer and pianist, Sarah Gibson, who passed away recently. Her smile and positive energy were a joy to be around,

and her impact continues to reverberate around here.

At Sarah’s memorial, held on August 31st 2024 in Walt Disney Concert Hall, Los Angeles, her friend Elizabeth shared these words, which were found by Sarah’s bedside:

I think everything in life is art.

What you do. How you dress.

The way you love someone, and how you talk.

Your smile and your personality. What you believe in, and all your dreams.

The way you drink your tea.

How you decorate your home. Or party. Your grocery list.

The food you make. How your writing looks.

And the way you feel. Life is art
